Text
Abraham is central to Jewish, Christian and Islamic texts. Genesis 22 depicts a test in which he is told to offer Isaac, until a call stops the act and a ram is offered in the son's place. Qur'an 37:99–113 narrates the dream, the father-son exchange and a great sacrifice as ransom, without naming the son within the sacrifice scene. [1][2]
This comparison concerns versions of a narrative and their interpretation. It does not independently establish Abraham's birth date or a particular journey outside the texts. The image is a European engraving of 1516–1518, a much later reception of Genesis, not a historical portrait. [3]
