Text

Theopompus of Chios was a fourth-century BCE Greek historian whose works survive through fragments and quotations in later writers. Diogenes Laertius attributes to him a report that the Magi taught humans would live again and become immortal. The fragment matters for Iranian religious history, but its surviving form is transmitted centuries later by Diogenes, not an original Theopompus manuscript. [1][2]
