Iconography
A reference page linking a name, group, or concept to the materials that discuss it.
Study of images, their attributes and contexts; resemblance alone does not prove identity.
Text
Iconographic study combines visible form with find context, inscriptions and comparisons. A throne, beard or crown may support an interpretation without uniquely identifying a figure. RS23.394 is a useful example: its catalogue proposes El while retaining uncertainty.[1]
