Text

Saoshyant is an Avestan term rendered benefactor or helper. Texts apply it to contemporary and expected people; later eschatological layers give it a role in the world’s renovation. Yasht19:89 connects the Victorious Saoshyant and companions with the dead rising and an ageless existence. Its meaning therefore depends on text and layer rather than one unchanging savior figure.
