Text

Antiochus IV Epiphanes was a Seleucid king ruling from175 to164 BCE. A historical-critical approach connects Daniel’s final visions with persecution under his rule, around167–164 BCE. His coins bear a royal image and his name. They document Seleucid representations of authority, distinct from the symbolic scenes in Daniel. [1][2]
