Text

Taqi al-Din Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya (1263–1328) was a Hanbali Muslim scholar born in Harran. His family moved to Damascus in 1269 amid upheavals connected with Mongol expansion. He taught and wrote on law, interpretation and theology, and took part in disputes with scholars of his time. His varied work cannot be reduced to one position on the sacrifice story. [1]

A modern study by Younus Y. Mirza examines Ibn Taymiyya's, and later Ibn Kathir's, influence on identifying Ishmael in Islamic interpretation. The archive consulted the study's abstract and opening, not the entire article or the relevant original passage in Ibn Taymiyya's works. It therefore attributes that account of influence to Mirza rather than presenting it as a direct quotation from Ibn Taymiyya. [2]
