Amarna / Akhetaten
Site of Akhenaten’s capital in Middle Egypt; boundary stelae record successive proclamations and reaffirmation.
Text
Akhetaten means “Horizon of AtenAtenSolar divine power central to Akhenaten’s program, depicted by disk and rays, with a history predating the king.Glossary · Click to read the explanation.” Boundary stelae proclaim territory in years 5 and 6, with reaffirmation in year 8. The diagram charts these texts, not an excavation plan or proof of royal claims to revelation. [1]
The site preserves temples, houses and evidence of practice; stone architecture was dismantled and reused afterward. Urban life cannot be reduced to court imagery, nor does institutional abandonment date the end of every individual belief. [2][3]
