Text

Ruth 4 links redemption of Naomi’s field, marriage to Ruth and preservation of the deceased’s name on his inheritance. A nearer kinsman yields his right and Boaz acts as redeemer, but he is not Mahlon’s brother. The sandal attests a transfer, unlike the widow’s removal of the refusing brother’s sandal with spitting in Deuteronomy 25. [1][3]
