Marziḥu
A reference page linking a name, group, or concept to the materials that discuss it.
A banqueting institution or association in Ugaritic documents, with religious functions not reducible to one ritual.
Text
Documents mention members, property and vineyards associated with the marziḥu; the term can also refer to a banquet. An intrinsic connection with the dead remains debated. KTU1.114 does not include the dead among the guests, so the episode cannot generalize intoxication or communion with the dead to every institution.[1]
