Text

Two works can inherit images or stories from an earlier tradition or circulate them within one cultural setting. This need not involve the second copying the first. [1]

Seek witnesses to the proposed tradition and its distribution; a missing origin cannot simply be invented. West Semitic settings help explain council comparisons while preserving the features of each text.
